What is Trézór Bŕidge®?
Trézór Bŕidge® is a small local service that creates a secure communication channel between your computer’s browser (or the Trézór™ Suite web client) and your physical Trezor hardware device. Because modern browsers restrict direct USB access for safety, the Bridge acts as a trusted intermediary — it runs on your machine, manages USB access, and ensures the device and web app can exchange signed requests safely.
Why the Bridge matters for Crypto*
The Bridge improves usability without compromising security. Critical operations (address display, transaction signing) always require your confirmation on the Trezor device itself — the Bridge only relays requests and responses locally. Even if your computer is compromised, an attacker cannot sign transactions without the device and your explicit approval.
Installing Trézór Bŕidge®
Step 1 — Download
Always download from the official source: trezor.io/start. Choose the Bridge installer that matches your OS (Windows, macOS, Linux).
Step 2 — Run the Installer
Run the downloaded installer and follow on-screen prompts. On Windows you may see a UAC prompt; allow the install. macOS will ask for permission to open the package; grant it when you're sure the file is official.
Step 3 — Restart & Connect
After installing, restart your browser (or the Suite desktop app). Connect your Trézór device using a data-capable USB cable. The Bridge will usually start automatically and handle the pairing.
Using the Bridge inside Trézór™ Suite
When you open Trézór™ Suite (web or desktop) and plug in your device, the interface will detect the Bridge and prompt for device actions. You’ll be asked to confirm operations — always read addresses and amounts on the device screen. Suite + Bridge supports multiple coins, passphrase-protected hidden wallets, and advanced features like coin control.
Troubleshooting — quick fixes
- Bridge not detected: Restart your browser or the Suite app. Ensure Bridge is running (check system tray / background services).
- Device not recognized: Swap to a data-capable cable, try a different USB port, or test on another machine.
- Browser blocks access: Disable restrictive extensions temporarily (privacy blockers, USB blockers) or use the desktop Suite.
- Firewall issues: Allow the Bridge application through your firewall so local ports can be used.
Security & best practices
- Download Bridge only from
trezor.io
. - Verify firmware and Suite prompts on the physical device display.
- Never share your recovery seed or enter it on a computer.
- Keep Bridge, Suite, and your OS up to date for security patches.
Advanced notes
Power users can run Bridge in headless or background modes and integrate it with developer tools. Bridge is open-source; auditors can inspect its code. For enterprise setups, consult official documentation about deployment, policies, and multiple-device workflows.
